After several days, I have just about recovered from "Trump", "Musk", "Farage" and "naked" in the same paragraph...

I too struggle to know what to make of it all. I do think the lens of "straight white guys" - while nice and simple - doesn't help that much. There's so much more at play here - in particular, the role of money, and the cynical embrace of populism - and we shouldn't lose sight of that. Also, let's not forget that Trump's vote share grew among many (non-white) minorities.

Politics, like life, is never simple, and rarely fits straightforward narratives. That's one of the reasons I think why the Trump/ Farage/ Musk brand of populism that gives easy answers for everything (especially the "us vs. them") is as pernicious, and as attractive, as it is.

He also wants to take Canada and doesn’t understand why everyone is saying nfw 🫣 AI bot trolls are rife on every platform and the dopamine TikTok YouTube apps are ruining kids (and adults) minds filling them with angst. I wish I could shut off and hide. 😅 where’s that bottle of tequila?

I think the Canadians should seriously consider it Esther. I mean, what's not to love about having non-elected government officials, the freedom to own a gun, privatised healthcare, and extortionate university fees? ;-)

Can we all run away to a faraway land and start a commune please? Led by mystic wise grandmothers and gentle beardy grandfathers who grew up with love and have nothing to prove?
